I met Terry a while back when he bought a table set from me. He was a very supportive guy who loved my work. We kept in touch trying to find a tallboy dresser that I could customize for him. Pieces were available, I just did not feel it would compliment his space and he followed me lead.
Terry eventually reached out and stated he wanted his bed frame redone and I told him to bring it down. Once arriving I met his wife as well and we talked about colours and various shades of white. Terry's wife who clearly had a vision in mind sat with me as we looked at pics of their room and some whites I had here. Initially she settled on Champlain and at first I was on board. Some time lapsed and I started to think the colour would be too yellow for their decor so I thought Raw Silk would do. They wanted something that would not blend in too much with what they currently had and I thought Raw Silk from MFP would work. A little yellow to seperate itself from everything else but not as much yellow as Champlain.
I sent some pics to Terry of some of my own pieces done in Raw Silk as well as some on the internet and they were sold. One pic in particular of a chair that was distressed grabbed their attention and they wanted me to do it in this style. Me, do distressed? NO PROBLEM!😀
As you can see, the bed is huge. I told Terry I would sand it to the natural grain before I painted and it pretty much took a day to do so. I can't tell you how many coats of paint it took but I went through a full jar and then some.🤔 I have a particular method to painting by hand that works for darker colours, just not so complimentary to whites. Hence, why I stay away from them.🤪
After the painting was done I ran some sandpaper over the lines where there would be natural wear and it complimented the piece very well. I think this is the final piece to compliment their newly renovated room.
So, yes, I can do white.😀
Please see the before and after pics. Since the lighting was poor outside, it made it a bit difficult to get pics of the distressed details.
