šCustomer Pieceš
Here is the second piece I did for Melanie that was a match to the one I finished for her recently in Coal Black.

Initially, the plan was to make this piece into a raw wood or washed finish. That changed while doing the black piece since the majority of the wood was white walnut. The challenge with this wood is that it typically comes out red or pink with a topcoat or wash. Yes, you can play with colours when making the wash but after showing her some examples Melanie changed gears and selected Sacred Sage FMP from my paint inventory.
Sacred Sage was discontinued by Fusion well over a year ago and I was fortunate enough to grab the last 3 jars locally before it became extinct. Bellwood from Fusion is a close match but I still prefer Sacred Sage.

As usual, I scraped and sanded the piece down to the natural grain before adding 3 coats of paint. The lovely thing about this wood is that you can still see the grain detail under the paint, something both Melanie and I like.
Much like the black piece I did for her, a drawer stopper was missing so I fixed that with some trim I had lying around. I had to rebuild one drawer slider with some scrap wood as well but that was no big deal.

Since this piece was missing some pulls, Melanie grabbed some simple, yet classy tarnished knobs that pulled the piece together nicely. The woman has good taste and a designer's eye that I have grown to appreciate.
