This piece was given to me from my neighbour who recently moved. As soon as I got it, I saw it in Moulin Rouge Red from Bluestone House. This red is one of my favourite colours but it has to be on the right piece. When I use this colour I almost always accompany it with a black drybrush distress look as you can see in the pictures.

The top was sanded down to its natural grain and I originally stained in Provincial. Unfortunately, I did not like it so I sanded again and applied Dark Waknut stain which has never failed me. It certainly added to the overall rustic look of the piece.
I reused the original knobs as the colour and feel of the knobs compliments the red and black distressing of the piece.
I protected the stained top with 3 coats of tung oil and the remainder of the piece in my homemade foodgrade beeswax.
This is my second time using Bluestone House Silk Patina paint which is a competitor to Fusion Mineral Paint. When I can, I will continue to use the Bluestone House Paint as it is a great product. What is awesome about Bluestone House Paints is that they are made right here in Ancaster Ontario. A Canadian made paint, purchased in a local Canadian Home Hardware store. No better way to support local than that.

I recommend you give the Bluestone House paint line a try as they are in many stores through Ontario and Canada which makes it very convenient.
