Lesley sent me a text a few weeks ago and asked me if I would be interested in these two MCM Art Deco dressers. If you recall, I picked up 4 other pieces from Lesley a few months back, one being a sideboard that I refinished in Bayberry that sold right away.

To my own surprise I went lighter with these two. I am not sure what is going on but rest assured, I am fine.😀

I started looking at whites but did not want to do 6 coats to get even coverage. As much as I appreciate Raw Silk from FMP, I have always found the paint to be clumpy and chalky. Anything pure white drives me bananas so I started looking at Chateau FMP and felt it was the closest colour to Goddess Ashwagandha that I loved and Fusion discontinued years ago.
The original plan was to stain and white wash all the drawers but I changed my mind and painted the 2 lower drawers. All painted parts were protected with a coat of homemade food grade beeswax.
I initially stained the two upper drawers in Provincial as I did not want them too dark. Sadly, they came out light and yellow so I threw on a coat of Dark Walnut stain to darken it and it worked. Once dried I whitewashed the stained finish to mute the colour and create less contrast with the Chateau. The result, especially up close and in certain light is 👌. Once dried, I added a coat of water based poly for protection.
I see Chateau being used more frequently in my future.🤪
I would like to thank Lesley for the 2 dressers and hope she approves the transformation when she sees them.
