Telephone table’s new look in Ash Fusion Mineral Paint

brentmacneil

On the way home after picking up another piece I saw this table sitting outside all by it's lonesome. The poor little guy was looking cold and sad so I thought I would get him home, warm him up and give him some fresh new clothes.

To my surprise, this little guy was solid wood and in amazing shape. It is hard to believe someone would abandon such a cute lad, especially knowing how popular MCM furniture is right now.

Time to turn this chap into a GQ centerfold. No doubt he was going to be dressed up in Ash and Dark Walnut.

After taking this piece completely apart, I sanded the existing stain from the bottom and upper top right down to the natural grain. I then stained both pieces in Dark Walnut. After sanding the remaining pieces, I painted them in 3 coats Ash MFP.

The stained pieces were protected with 3 coats of Tung Oil which richened the wood grain even more. The painted pieces were protected with a coat of foodgrade homemade beeswax.

Once all the pieces cured, I reassembled the piece and was astonished in the change.

Please see the before and after pics.

Dimensions: 26Lx24"Hx17"D
