Tall Boy in Seaside Blue Fusion Mineral Paint

brentmacneil

What does a new day bring? A new blue! 😀

Just this week I posted I picked this piece up with 2 others from an awesome couple in Rockwood. As stated, I immediately saw this dresser painted in Seaside Blue from FMP .

Initially I had a plan to paint the entire piece and stain the 2 small drawers up top but that quickly changed after experiencing some technical difficulties. This led me to think I would stain the bottom 3 drawers instead. Once done, I really did not like the blockiness having the 3 drawers stained so I opted to paint the entire piece and drybrush to accent the details.

After painting the entire piece with 3 coats of Seaside Blue, I drybrushed the entire piece in Coal Black FMP. Once done the entire piece was protected with a coat of homemade food grade beeswax.

I soaked the hardware for 2 days in vinegar and then painted them in matte black to add some contrast with the blue as well as compliment the drybrushing.

All the drawers and sliders were waxed to allow the drawers to open and close smoothly.

For those who like both green and blue this is a perfect colour as it sits in between....hence the name "Seaside Blue".

Thanks again to Tina at the Barn Door Studio for the purchase of the paint as well as the welcoming conversation to go along with it.
